To make your Code:Blocks highlights your CUDA syntax, simply download my lexer_cuda.txt (94) file, rename it to lexer_cuda.xml (apparently wordpress didn’t allow me to upload .xml file extension), and put it in:

• [Windows] C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeBlocks\share\CodeBlocks\lexers
• Or <Code:Blocks installation path>\share\CodeBlocks\lexers if you installed it to different folder.
• [Linux] /usr/share/codeblocks/lexers

It works for Code:Blocks 10.05 and file extensions .cu and .cuh. You can add more extensions by yourself either by

• Editing the line filemasks=”*.cu, *.cuh” in my lexer_cuda.xml file, or
• Opening Code:Blocks
• Go to Settings >> Editor >> Syntax Highlighting
• Select CUDA in ‘syntax highlighting for’
• Click Filemasks button, add the new extension, and click ok.

Credit: I used CUDA keywords from cuda.lua file.

This link tells me there are two ways to do it: by macro, or NppExec. The macro method didn’t work for me (I added the code in shortcuts.xml but the macro doesn’t show in Notepad++ so I couldn’t run it) The NppExec method has very brief explanation I don’t know how to do it.. And I couldn’t find a quick link that tell me exactly on how to do that method either. It was frustrating. A user who just wants to change print font size shouldn’t have to learn details about NppExec and Scintilla. So I think I would share here.

This is my take on it: Basically Notepad++ runs on a backend called Scintilla. And we can change print font size by sending a message to Scintilla to change its  SCI_SETPRINTMAGNIFICATION parameter. We can send a message to Scintilla by either running a macro, or via NppExec. Below is how I do it using NppExec.

1. Plugins -> Plugin Manager -> Show Plugin Manager
2. Select NppExec and click Install
3. Restart Notepad++ after finish installing
4. Press F6 or click Plugins -> NppExec -> Execute
5. Type in SCI_SENDMSG 2146 -2
• SCI_SENDMSG is a command to send message to Scintilla
• 2146 is a code for SCI_SETPRINTMAGNIFICATION
• -2 is a parameter, telling Scintilla to reduce the font size by 2 level
6. Click OK
7. Done.

• Easy to install

• Easy to use.
• Couldn’t stop recording. I had to kill the process. – -”

• Not-so-easy to install
  • Download .zip from here
  • Extract and you’ll get a folder containing 2 files: installdata.tar.gz and installer.sh
  • Run ./installer.sh
  • You’ll probably get an error message saying libstdc++.so.5 and libexpat.so.0 are missing
  • libstdc++.so.5: Install package libstdc++5  - Get it from packages.ubuntu.com
  • libexpat.so.0: Create symbolic link from the existing libexpat you have
    • sudo ln -s /lib/libexpat.so.1 /lib/ libexpat.so.0
  • Run ./installer.sh again
  • Specify the path for the program
  • try running it from its folder ./wink
  • Voila! I can run!.. but how to record…? ..I’m done – -”

Unlike Season 7, which LoFro won me over since Vegas Round, I don’t have my clear, ultimate favourite yet. But I do have some favourites: Iveta, Sasha, Melanie.

Performance Night

I only liked 3 out of 10 routines. I almost liked Sasha’s routine, though.

1. Melanie & Marko – Contemporary

Choreographer: Travis Wall
Absolutely stunning.
Love the way melanie moves — so smooth — and her lines. Marko is also very strong.

2. Iveta & Nick – Quickstep

Choreographer: Jason Gilkison
They WERKED the Quickstep, the kiss of death!!!

3. Missy & Wadi – Jazz

Choreographer: Sean Cheesman
Missy’s movements were sharp! Loved Wadi doing freerunning at the end.

Random Opinions:

• The were too much overpraising. The judges should get real with the critiques, like what they used to be in the early seasons.
• Jess made Tyce’s Broadway routine work. And he finally got rid of the frowned face he usually makes while dancing! He’s growing on me.
• Missy & Wadi are also growing on me.
• Chris Scott disappointed me. Twice in just one episode Gotta give him some time to adapt.
• I wanted to like Ashley but she hasn’t shined yet. And somehow I found Chris weaker than Ashley in their (already weak) Hip Hop routine.
• Robert’s Woo~ thing, which is usually iritating, was bearable in this ep., only because of Jason’s and Mary’s Woo~. But he really should get rid of it/tone it down.
• Has never been a fan of Ryan’s dancing. I don’t know. Just something about the way she moves.
• Jordan playing dumb about the afro jazz was kinda cheesy. Not a smart move.

Fun Fact:

I read from somewhere that Sasha is a Russian short name for Alexander/Alexandra. So the Sasha/Alexander pairing = both Sashas.. LOL

Suggestions:

• I want to see a ballroom/latin group routine. I’m pretty sure they haven’t done it since season 5 (Hip-Hop/Samba.. watch it.. so awesome).
• The dances need to vary more. Lately the show has been too Contemporary heavy. (Jazz doesn’t make it feel much different) It can be boring.
• More creative storylines. Or even no storylines at all. I’m sick of the storylines about disappointed love, cheating, you name it. I miss Wade Robson not only for his unique, outstanding choreo, but his refreshing back story of the choreo as well. (Night of the Dancing Flame, Ruby Blue, etc)
• Need more fun, uplifting routine as well.
• Want new choreographers. This season so far I only saw Sonya, Travis, Tyce, Jason, Chris, Seen and Stacey, whose routines we saw too many that it started to get boring already in season 7, choreographing. And most of them choreograph 2 routines per week, which usually turn out to a better and a lesser routine, or two pretty mediocre routines, both of which aren’t fair to the dancers. New choreographers could bring something new, and reduce the load on the current choreographers so that have more time to polish their routine.
• Asking the past contestants to choreograph could be awesome as well. Travis isn’t the only one that can choreograph.
• I’m really interested to see Ellenore’s choreo. Preferably the routine with the fun vibes like her solo in vegas.

Elimination Night

Great Group routine. Sonya’s routines are always a hit or miss for me. I personally think a top 20 routine is the hardest group routine to manage because of the amount of people on stage. If you can’t manage it well enough it will look like a hot mess. Props to Sonya for that.

Opinions:

• I’m glad Iveta and Nick survived the curse of the dreaded Quickstep. (I knew Nick is popular but I couldn’t help worrying)
• No elimination has happened before, Nigel. In just the last season.
• Double elimination never ends up good. I have a feeling we are going to lose some dancers who deserve to go far (=whom I like.. LOL) next week.
• I understand Nigel, though.
• Robert, aka the Wooo~ man, annoyed the heck out of me. It was just too much. And his solo wasn’t even good. His attempt to do locking looked more like flailing around.
• Gotta quote Cat: You can’t outWoo Mary.

Some routines I liked.

1. Iveta’s Cop Solo

Given that almost every ballroom dancers on the show struggled with solos, I didn’t expect much from Iveta. But Just when I was about to complain about the too long intro, she showed me those AWESOME steps!!! It looks so good I couldn’t help rewatching. I guess I’ve watched it more than ten times already in just the past two weeks. LOL

2. Natalia and Professor Lock (aka Indubitably)’s Jive

Starts at 1:43
I adore Natalia. She was the first non-Latin dancer that was able to show me how the Jive is fun.

3. Group dance

It’s great to see a group that had everything going well and just grace through the group round. Their choreo was good.

Meet the Top 20

aka the Showcase Episode. The routines are pretty good this year.

1. Top 10 Guys Routine

Choreographed by the LXD’s fabulous Christopher Scott.
It looked cool, as you would expect from Chris, but I felt a bit dizzy watching it. Mainly because of all the camera angle switching, I guess.

2. Iveta’s Ballroom Routine

Choreographed by Jason Gilkison.
I think this one is a mix of Paso Doble, Waltz, etc. (I wish I had eyes for ballroom) to show why she’s a freakin’ World 10 Dance Champion!!!

3. Top 10 Girls Routine

A Sonya Tayeh routine.
I liked it , although it received a lot of complaints about stereotype issues.

4. Contemporary Routine

Both Contemporary routines are beautiful. Worth checking out.

Random Opinions:

• I don’t care for the other numbers, especially the Hip Hop number — pale in comparison to ABDC
• The new stage looks so much better than the dim, robotic-looking, stage in season 6-7.
• Still love the first stage the most, though.
• I’m glad they still keep the All-Star format. All-Stars I would love to see coming back: Comfort, Pasha and Anya
• I want Lauren Froderman to be an All-Star!

Sighs. I’m such a hardcore fan of SYTYCD. Never thought I’d blog about a TV show.
Before Vegas round starts, here are some highlights from this season’s auditions.

A must-watch:

I’m not ranking. Just listing whatever came up on my mind first.

1. Princess Lockeroo’s Wacking [NYC Audition]

I was thoroughly entertained by her performance. I liked her a lot.
However, I think she’s untrained in other genres and will likely be cut in some early rounds in vegas :’( Of course I hope I’m wrong.

I researched her a bit on youtube. She appears to be a HDI waacking champion. And she even had come to Thailand to showcase her wacking..

2. Mary Kate’s Irish Step Dancing [NYC Audition]

Never watched any Irish step dancing before but will definitely seek for more! This dance is cool.
Mary Kate danced so light-footedly and brought grace to stage. I love her

She looked kind of awkward/clumsy in choreography round. I hope she gets used to these new styles in time for Vegas round.

3. Hiro from We Are Heroes [LA Audition]

I didn’t watch ABDC while We Are Heroes were crowned champion. But I have watched some their performances on YouTube.
Somehow I didn’t like them much at first. But I changed my mind after seeing Hiro’s audition to SYTYCD. She’s awesome!!! So funny!
And I love the SYTYCD alums reactions at the end. Especially Comfort and Twitch XD

Many SYTYCDers had been on ABDC and made it far *cough*Quest&I.aM.mE*cough* [By the way, wishing all my bests to I.aM.mE for ABDC6!!!]
It’s good to see the other way around.

4. Levi’s Turfing [SF Audition]

This local style is cool. Especially his footwork. It’s like he’s floating. Would love to see more of Turfing. haha.

Liked a lot:

All the good contemporary dancers falls into this category just because of the ‘wow’ factor. Unique styles always have an edge for me.

1. Melany Moore [Atlanta Audition]

She reminds me that dance is an art form. And I like her personality.

2. Ashley Rich [SF Audition]

Man, she’s strong. I kind of wish I had her elevation.. lol Those leaps.

3. BBoy Machine [SF Audition]

From what I’ve heard, he’s easily one of best BBoys in the world, and he’s quite versatile. Hope he makes it to the top 20!!!

4. Chyna Smith [Salt Lake City Audition]

She talks a bit too much. But maybe she was just very excited to finally audition to a show she has been a fan for a long time. So I’m okay with that.
I love that her moves are crisp, and  play with the beats well.

Worth checking out:

1. Bianca’s Salsa, Columbia Style [Atlanta Audition]

Their footworks are really fast!!!

2. Amber Williams [SF Audition]

She has good techniques and is so active. It’s refreshing. I just wish she played with the beats more.

3. Devon & Micah’s Stepping [Salt Lake City Audition]

I couldn’t get the stepping routine at all when it was brought in in season 7. Not even with the presence of Twitch.
I kind of get it with these two.

4. Tadd Gadduang

Although he didn’t wow me with any new tricks, he was entertaining. He also showed good musicality. I specifically liked the hands-climbing-on-the-stage part.

5. Natalia & Sasha Mallory

The dance is solid. But what attracted me the most is their interactions with each other. So funny XD

คนพูดเน้นในด้าน Speaking, Writing มากกว่า ซึ่งก็ดีเพราะ Listening/Reading ส่วนใหญ่ก็ไม่มีใครเดือดร้อนอยู่แล้ว

• อ่านคำถามล่วงหน้าได้
• ให้ใช้ review time ในการอ่านล่วงหน้า
• ทำทุกอย่างในสมุดคำถามก่อนแล้วค่อยลอกคำตอบลงไป

Reading

• 800-900 คำต่อ section
• เนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับเรื่องทั่วไป ค่อนข้างง่าย
• ควรอ่านได้ราวๆ 200 คำต่อนาที (wpm)
• ถ้าอ่านคำถามก่อนแล้วมา skim หาคำตอบ มักจะได้คะแนนดียาก

เริ่มจาก บ่าย 3 โมง โฟสพาไปดูร้าน Amway ที่ชิดลม หน้าตาเหมือนธนาคาร + supermarket เพราะมีบัตรคิวให้กด สำหรับสินค้าส่วนที่ต้องซื้อกับคน แล้วก็มีรถเข็นกับหิ้งวางสินค้า สำหรับสินค้าส่วนอื่นเหมือน super (ขออภัยไม่ได้ถ่ายรูปมา.. ลืม) เท่าที่ฟังจากโฟสระหว่างที่เดินดูสินค้า, Amway มีประเด็นที่น่าสนใจหลายอย่าง คือ

• แผนธุรกิจที่เอื้อประโยชน์ให้ทุกคน: นักธุรกิจแอมเวย์ทุกคนมีโอกาสทางธุรกิจเท่าเทียมกัน และถือเป็นหุ้นส่วน/เจ้าของร้านทุกสาขาร่วมกัน, downline (น่าจะเรียกยังงี้นะ) มีสิทธิ์ได้รายได้เหนือกว่า upline, ทำทิ้งไว้ ได้เงินเรื่อยๆ
• รักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อม: อันนี้เป็นประเด็นที่สนใจที่สุด เหมือนว่าจะทำจริงจังทีเดียว ไม่ว่าจะเป็น
  • ขวดพลาสติกที่เป็น polyethylene 3 ชั้น ชั้นกลาง recycle มา + กำจัดขวดด้วยการเผาได้
  • ใช้หมดสามารถเอาขวดมาคืน ไม่ต้องกำจัดเอง + ได้แต้มสะสมเพิ่ม
  • น้ำยาในขวดที่เข้มข้นกว่าปกติ ให้ผสมน้ำใช้เอา เพื่อประหยัดขวด
  • หลอดพลาสติกที่ตากแดด 3 เดือนก็ย่อยสลายกลายเป็นแป้งไปเอง (เรียกว่าอะไร ..plast หรือ ..blast นี่แหละ ลืม)
  • สะกิดใจหน่อยๆ ตรงที่บนผลิตภัณฑ์ทั้งหลายไม่มีการเขียนถึงเรื่อง เผาได้ เป็นมิตรกับธรรมชาติ หรืออะไรไว้เลย แค่ให้บอกกันปากเปล่า ..เค้าน่าจะเอาเป็นจุดเด่นไว้โปรโมตมากกว่า ..แบบนี้เลยเหมือนกลัวการให้คำรับประกันยังไงชอบกล
• สินค้าในร้านที่หลากหลายเอาเรื่อง มีการ deal กับ partner ใหญ่ยักษ์หลายราย ตั้งแต่อาหารเสริม เครื่องสำอางค์ ไปจนถึงเครื่องแต่งกายแบรนด์เนม
  • โฟสบอกเป็นข้อได้เปรียบ เพราะถ้าตั้งธุรกิจเอง คงไม่สามารถขอเป็น partner กับบริษัทใหญ่ๆ เหมือนที่เป็นอยู่ได้ + ไม่ต้องกำลังเรื่องทำเลร้าน ยาม และอะไรต่างๆ ด้วย แค่ดูเรื่องแผนการตลาด (รึเปล่า?)

3 ประเด็นนี้ทำให้ จากที่รู้สึก เฉยๆ มาฟังก็ได้ เปลี่ยนเป็น สนใจและคาดหวังกะไอ้ที่จะฟังมากขึ้น

4 โมงเย็น ไปถึงงาน จัดที่ Royal Paragon Hall, มาถึงแล้วถึงเพิ่งรู้ชื่องาน เพิ่งรู้ด้วยว่าต้องใช้ตั๋ว (ซึ่งโฟสเตรียมให้แล้ว) 55 งานชื่อ “Amway คนค้นโอกาส” จริงๆ งานเริ่มบ่าย 3 ครึ่งแต่ไปสาย.. เข้าไปก็เจอคุณสง่า ดามาพงษ์ จากกรมอนามัย กำลังแนะนำเรื่องการบริโภคและโภชนาการที่ดี ฟังดูมีประโยชน์กับสุขภาพ แต่ก็แอบสงสารตัวเองถ้าจะทำตามอย่างเคร่งครัด (ท่าจะไม่รอด 555)

4 โมงครึ่งเป็นเมนูหลัก คุณพฤสณัย นักธุรกิจแอมเวย์ระดับเพชรคู่สองผู้สถาปนา (what???) มาพูด เค้าก็เล่าว่า ช่วงสมัยเรียน เกรดไม่ดีเลย จบมาทำธุรกิจผักไฮโดรโพนิคส์ ขยันตัวเป็นเกลียว แต่ก็ทำเงินไม่ได้มาก (งานประเภท profile ดี, profit ต่ำ) จนมาเริ่มทำ Amway ภายในหนึ่งปี 11 เดือนได้เป็นระดับนี้ 3 ปีระดับนั้น.. (มรกต เพชร เพชรคู่ อะไรเนี่ย จำไม่ได้ละ) จนตอนนี้ 8 ปี มีธุรกิจหลากหลายในหลายประเทศ รวมๆ แล้วหลายร้อยล้าน จากนั้นก็เป็นมหกรรมฉายสไลด์ว่าได้ไปเที่ยวไหนมาบ้าง… LA, San Francisco, Las Vegas, ตุรกี, เยอรมัน, รัสเซีย, ญี่ปุ่น, เกาหลี, ฉลองวันเกิดภรรยาที่แหลม Good Hope ฯลฯ นั่งเครื่องบินไม่ First Class ก็ Business Class ตลอด, เรือสำราญ, ได้นั่ง private jet ไปไหนต่อไหน รู้สึกอิสระ อนาคตตั้งเป้าจะสอย private jet ไว้ใช้สักลำ (หกร้อยล้านบาท – -”), จัด private concert เอา Sir Elton John, LeAnn Rimes มาเล่น blah blah blah… ราวชม.นิดๆ

นอกจากเรื่องเที่ยว เที่ยว และเที่ยว ก็ทำให้ได้คิดถึงอะไรบางอย่าง และก็สรุปยุทธวิธีในวันนี้ของ Amway ได้คร่าวๆ

• ตอนเริ่มเค้าบอกว่า ชีวิตคนมี 3 ขั้น คือ แสวงหา->สร้าง->สบาย (หรือสองขั้นแรกสลับกัน ไม่แน่ใจ) คนเราต้องการสบาย ดังนั้นต้องย่นระยะเวลาการแสวงหากับสร้างให้สั้นที่สุด เพื่อจะได้เสพสุขกับชีวิต (ดังนั้นจงมาทำ Amway กัลล์)
  • แอบไม่เห็นด้วย เราทั้งแสวงหาและสบายพร้อมกันได้ ความสบายเหมือนมันจะขึ้นอยู่กับทัศนคติ ความคาดหวังของแต่ละคนมากกว่า
• ใช้การเปรียบเทียบ เช่น คนอายุ 28 บางคน มีธุรกิจเป็นของตัวเอง ส่งน้องเรียนได้แล้ว ในขณะที่บางคนยังเรียนไม่จบ ต้องแบมือขอเงินพ่อแม่อยู่เลย
  • วัดความสำเร็จจากเงิน
  • อันที่จริงคนที่อายุ 22 แล้วแต่ก็ไม่ได้ทำงานเป็นจริงเป็นจัง และกำลังจะแบมือขอเงินพ่อแม่ (บางส่วน) ไปเรียนต่อโทที่อเมริกาอย่างเรา ฟังแล้วก็น่าจะรู้สึกร้อนตัวบ้าง แต่ก็ไม่ยักเป็นอย่างนั้น สงสัยเพราะเป้าหมายและมุมมองของคำว่า “สำเร็จ” นั้นต่างกัน
• แนวคิดวัตถุนิยม ชัดเจน
  • เที่ยวที่นู่นที่นี่ร้อยแปดดังที่ได้ยกตัวอย่างมาแล้ว
    • Global Citizen
  • ถ้ารถเสีย คนส่วนมากจะซ่อม แต่เราควรจะซื้อรถใหม่ (เทียบกับ คนเสียเวลากับการแก้ปัญหาเก่าๆ กับสร้างธุรกิจใหม่)
  • ซื้อรถใหม่ให้แม่ ไม่ต้องคิด แม่อยากไปเที่ยวไหน บินไปได้เลย
• มีปัจจัยดึงดูด 3 อย่าง คือ เที่ยวต่างประเทศ ชีวิตอิสระ และเพื่อให้พ่อแม่ได้สบาย (สรุปรวมเป็นอย่างเดียวคือ เงิน 55)

สรุปก็คือยังไม่รู้อะไรเกี่ยวกับ Amway เท่าไหร่… โดยเฉพาะถ้าไม่ได้ไปดูร้านก่อนไปฟังก็จะไม่รู้อะไรเลยด้วยซ้ำ 555 การบรรยายไม่ได้บอกว่างานเป็นลักษณะไหน ต้องทำอะไรบ้าง ปัญหาอุปสรรค ฯลฯ และไม่ได้พูดถึงข้อเท็จจริงที่ว่า คนที่จะได้รับเละอย่างที่ว่ามานั้น น่าจะมีน้อยกว่าน้อย (ไม่งั้นบริษัทคงล่มไปนานแล้ว)

ความรู้สึกหลังจากฟังเสร็จ: เฉยๆ ตัวร้าน concept เข้าท่าทีเดียว แต่การบรรยายไม่ได้ทำให้รู้สึกบวกเพิ่มขึ้น //ไม่คิดอยากจะทำ เพราะตอนนี้ก็แฮปปี้ดีอยู่แล้ว + งานเสนอขายไม่ค่อยเข้ากับลักษณะนิสัย 55

มี 2 อย่างที่เปลี่ยนความคิดไปหลังฟังบรรยาย นั่นคือ

• ตอนแรกคิดว่าสินค้าราคาสูงเพราะคิดค่ากำจัดสินค้า (เพื่อสิ่งแวดล้อม) บวกเพิ่มไปด้วย ..แต่ฟังเสร็จก็ทำให้รู้ว่า ..คงมีค่า service ให้พนักงานบวกไปด้วยเยอะอยู่
• สินค้าเป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม แต่คนทำงานบินไปบินมา (ยังไม่นับ private jet) และยังหรูหราฟุ่มเฟือยอีกมากมาย.. ก็ทำลายสิ่งแวดล้อมเยอะอยู่ (อดคิดไม่ได้ ถึงแม้ว่าบริษัทอื่นๆ หรือใครๆ เค้าก็ทำแบบนี้กันหมดก็เถอะ)
